Our Story

2 Witnesses Radio is a Christian radio station broadcasting out of 17 Mile, Central Province. It was officially launched by John’s Foundation Inc. on September 16, 2020. The radio station reaches out to the National Capital District (NCD) and Central Province, as well as Goroka and Western Highlands in Papua New Guinea. Pastor Peter Yambe has served as the President over the past 5 years of the station’s existence, and he has been supported by a team of radio announcers and radio technicians who have all served to keep 2 Witnesses Radio. 2WR has been able to broadcast primarily due to the consistent support of John's Foundation, which has been assisted by donations from both the public sector and private individuals.

Brief History

The radio station emerged from John’s Foundation’s efforts to support the work of proclaiming the Gospel throughout Papua New Guinea. As a developing nation, Papua New Guinea has many areas where its residents live that are inaccessible by roads and cut off from the urban areas. It is of particular interest to reach these underprivileged that John's Foundation was able to purchase the radio station, which was formerly Rait FM, in 2019 to reach these unreached places. Since then, despite technical and financial challenges, 2WR has strove to be a consistent witness broadcasting Christian music and scriptural, Christ-centred messages to cater to the spiritual needs of all its listeners.

2 Witnesses Radio’s name is derived from the two witnesses mentioned in Revelation 11, who are often interpreted as representing the Old and New Testaments. The name is captures the station’s desire to keep the Christian constantly connected with Scripture and, through the Scriptures, connected to the Word made flesh in the person of Jesus Christ.
